Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, highly technical Environmental Testing Head to spearhead the qualification and acceptance testing of our space systems. This pivotal role demands designing robust testing strategies, orchestrating comprehensive test campaigns, and rigorously ensuring all flight hardware meets stringent space mission standardspreferably ISRO, NASA GSFC, ECSS-E-ST-10-03, and ECSS-Q-ST-20-07Cacross space segment equipment and elements for a NABL-qualified Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) facility in Ahmedabad.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Strategy & Leadership

  • Spearhead and manage the environmental testing department, defining comprehensive test strategies for diverse space systems (satellite buses, subsystems, payloads, and assemblies).
  • Orchestrate, coordinate, and execute qualification and acceptance test campaigns in precise alignment with project schedules, mission requirements, and milestones.
  • Mentor and direct a high-performing team of test engineers and technicians, cultivating a culture of safety, precision, technical excellence, and innovation.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Products and Sales teams in Business Development to resolve client queries, leveraging Testing as a Service (TaaS) capabilities.

Environmental Testing Execution

  • Oversee and actively manage complex environmental testing procedures for Thermal Vacuum (TVAC), sine/random vibration, shock testing, climatic chambers, EMI/EMC in anechoic chambers, and acoustic testing.
  • Review, optimize, approve test plans, procedures, detailed test reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and traceability matrices to ensure strict compliance with space industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot test anomalies in real-time, spearhead root-cause analysis, and partner with engineering teams to implement corrective actions and failure mode mitigation

Facility & Quality Management

  • Manage operational readiness, preventive maintenance, calibration, and upgrades of advanced environmental test facilities, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ensure all audits (NABL, ISRO, ISO/AS9100) are executed flawlessly, including test witnessing and certification processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of testing workflows, automation scripting, digital twin integration, and real-time telemetry methodologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in environmental testing of space systems; 10+ years highly preferred, with proven expertise in qualifying satellite buses, payloads, subsystems, and composites.
  • Extensive, demonstrated mastery in acceptance and qualification testing across TVAC, random vibration, pyro-shock, EMI/EMC, and hypervelocity impact environments.
  • Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Proven leadership in managing high-tech test facilities, cross-functional teams, and high-stakes programs.
  • Deep expertise in space environmental standards, flight hardware handling, contamination control, quality assurance (QA/QC), and risk management.
  • Exceptional coordination, documentation, analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Outstanding articulation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
