Roles & Responsibilities: The Environmental Expert is responsible to support Assets Affairs environmental health and sustainability efforts, by monitoring the impact of AA Operations on the environment, identifying environmental issues, and recommending solutions, in line with Ashghal's Corporate Environmental Policy.
Operational Responsibilities- Conduct on-site inspections, direct regulatory authority site visits and audits
- Oversee a variety of environmental compliance efforts related to air, water, waste, and wetland regulations
- Prepare and review periodic applicable environmental compliance reporting, as requested by the Authority and the regulatory agencies.
- Supervise and organize site waste sampling, profiling, and other disposal processes in compliance with corporate and national waste regulations
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate tracking and evaluation of safety and environmental compliance assurance activities and information
- Oversee safety & environmental training for employees at all levels
- Serve as Emergency Response Team member and assist with facility emergencies and drills.
- Stay updated with national, regional and global environmental regulations.
- Develop and enforce environmental guidelines and practices.
- Review and recommend improvements to existing environmental programs for compliance assurance.
- Provide guidance and direction to management for ensuring environmental compliance.
- Prepare permit applications and agreements as needed by regulatory agencies.
- Obtain, maintain, modify and renew environmental permits and licenses.
- Conduct regular environmental inspections to determine pollution level. Identify and solve environmental violations. Investigate environmental accidents and propose corrective actions.
- Assist in developing project proposals and statement of work and determine overall budget and schedules.
- Oversee waste disposal and pollution control programs.
- Assess potential impact certain processes may have on the environment
- Investigate employee complaints regarding exposure to hazardous material
- Ensure partners (contractors) and clients are complying with all local environmental regulations
Education Qualification: Minimum Bachelor's Degree Environmental Science / Engineering, Sustainability, Biology, or Chemistry or other physical or biological sciences
