Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to define and govern the enterprise-wide information architecture that enables trusted, interoperable, and well-governed data across ABB, with a stronger focus on Information within Core IS. The role focuses on how information is structured, shared, integrated, governed, and used across domains- ensuring data support business outcomes, regulatory compliance, analytics, and digital initiatives while allowing local differences. You will be operating at the enterprise and cross-domain level, setting guardrails rather than designing separate solutions. This role has no direct reports.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Directing the development of enterprise information architecture and processes, covering business information domains and subject areas, core enterprise data entities and relationships and information flows across systems and domains.

  • Developing, enhancing, and maintaining the enterprise information architecture including data modelling conventions, master and reference data principles, metadata and lineage requirements, data quality, and lifecycle standards. Establishing clear information ownership models (e.g., data owners, stewards, custodians) and ensuring alignment between business capabilities, processes, and information assets.

  • Assessing the existing IT environment, developing a future state IT architecture, ensuring technology compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure, services, and strategic direction, and overseeing architectural review of new designs.

  • Monitoring and reporting compliance level of the architecture landscape and flagging cross-ABB planning and road mapping implications.

Qualifications for the role

  • 8-12+ years in data, information, or enterprise architecture roles in in large, decentralized, or federated organizations

  • Proven experience defining enterprise-wide data or information architectures

  • Exposure to analytics, data platforms, integration, and cloud ecosystems

  • Strong data modelling (conceptual, logical, canonical)

  • Deep understanding of data governance, metadata, and lineage

  • Knowledge of modern data architectures (e.g., data mesh, data products, event-driven architectures)

  • Ability to balance enterprise consistency with domain flexibility

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
