Enterprise Architect - Core Banking Transformation

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the enterprise and target-state architecture for core banking modernization (cloud, data, integrations, security).
  • Lead core banking platform assessment and migration strategy, including FIS, Fiserv, Jack Henry, or equivalent systems.
  • Design integration architecture across core banking, digital banking, payments, CRM, AML/KYC, lending, and third-party fintech systems.
  • Partner with business, product, and operations teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical architectures.
  • Ensure alignment with US banking regulations (FFIEC, SOX, PCI-DSS, GLBA, data privacy).
  • Guide cloud adoption and hybrid architectures while ensuring resiliency, security, and high availability.
  • Review and govern solution designs, ensuring adherence to architecture standards and best practices.
  • Support vendor evaluation, RFPs, and implementation planning for core and adjacent banking systems.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology strategy, risk, and modernization roadmap.

Core Technology & Platform Experience

Core Banking Platforms :

  • FIS (Horizon, IBS), Fiserv (DNA, Premier), Jack Henry, or similar.

Integration & Middleware

  • APIs, ESB, event-driven architecture, microservices.

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • AWS/Azure (preferred), hybrid architectures.

Data & Analytics

  • Data warehouses, reporting, regulatory data flows.

Security & Compliance

  • Identity, access management, data protection, audit readiness.

Domain Expertise

  • Experience with core banking transformation or modernization programs.
  • Familiarity with fintech integrations and digital banking ecosystems.
  • Strong grasp of regulatory, risk, and compliance considerations in US banking.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong enterprise and solution architecture skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on architectural guidance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management across IT, business, vendors, and regulators.
  • Proven experience working in multi-vendor and legacy-to-modern environments.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 12-18+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in an Enterprise or Lead Architect role.
  • Direct experience in core banking platforms (FIS, Fiserv, etc.) is mandatory.
  • Prior experience supporting US banks or credit unions (community or regional preferred).
  • Experience in product engineering or platform-led transformation is a strong plus.
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification is desirable.
  • Optional Add-On (Nice to Have)
  • Experience leading modernization in small or mid-sized community banks.
  • Exposure to core banking carve-outs, mergers, or platform consolidations.
