A leading Indian fintech unicorn is building a next-generation, members-first credit card platform for highly creditworthy users. The platform spans the entire credit card lifecycle from discovery and issuance to usage, rewards, and post-issuance servicing with a strong focus on reliability, compliance, and exceptional user experience.
The Cards platform works with multiple issuing partners across different integration models:
- TSP-based integrations for small and mid-sized banks
- Direct (non-TSP) integrations for large banks with custom capabilities
- DSA-led models for strategic issuer partnerships
This requires building highly reliable, partner-friendly APIs, robust journey orchestration layers, and compliance-first workflows that operate across heterogeneous bank systems while delivering a seamless experience within the consumer app.
Beyond issuance, the card platform is deeply integrated with the company's consumption ecosystem (travel, lifestyle, and rewards), increasing real-world value for users and driving sustained engagement and spend.
Looking ahead, the company is building a high-scale, multi-bank credit card marketplace, powered by advanced personalization, scoring, and ranking systems to match users with the most relevant card products.
Key impact areas of the role
- Define and drive the technology strategy for the Credit Cards business and horizontal card platforms (issuance, servicing, partner integrations).
- Make critical build vs buy decisions for card infrastructure, balancing speed of onboarding with long-term scalability and compliance.
- Establish best-in-class engineering practices for resilient, compliant, highly available card systems.
- Design and integrate systems across the card ecosystem issuing banks, TSP and non-TSP partners, card networks, fraud & risk systems, rewards platforms, and regulatory reporting.
- Lead the development of event-driven, stateful workflow platforms for long-running card journeys (eligibility, application, KYC, issuance, controls, servicing).
- Build platforms for personalized card discovery and recommendations, including scoring, ranking, and experimentation frameworks.
- Partner closely with product, risk, fraud, compliance, and data teams to embed controls, consent management, and auditability.
- Build and lead a high-caliber engineering team, driving strong ownership, design rigor, and operational excellence.
- Platformize issuer onboarding using standardized APIs, configuration-driven flows, and reusable compliance components.
- Own reliability, scale, and incident response for mission-critical financial systems.
