Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical direction to teams, leveraging cloud technologies to deliver highly automated, cost-efficient, reliable, and scalable systems for global map updates with rapid cycle times.
  • Lead a team of 5-6 engineers while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent; support career growth; provide feedback; and ensure fair compensation and promotions.
  • Define and align departmental vision and strategy, clarify team missions, and remove impediments to execution.
  • Partner with release managers to improve delivery processes, stimulate cross-team collaboration, and maintain alignment with TomTom's values.
  • Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges, ensuring solutions align with broader departmental objectives.
  • Evaluate team performance against stakeholder expectations, manage risks, and report outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions, ensuring timely execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Customer teams to align diverse goals and perspectives.
  • Define long-term talent strategies across technologies and instill a passion for solving customer problems across teams.
  • Promote continuous improvement in tools, processes, and culture to keep teams agile, creative, and customer-focused.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, with 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • At least 1 year of proven technical leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong expertise in developing full-stack applications/services/tools for big data processing in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern programming technologies, primarily Java.
  • Solid understanding of OOP, SOA, microservices, event-driven architectures, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
  • Proven experience in complex architectural design, deployment, and enterprise-scale software products.
  • Strong background in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Git, GitLab, and Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex business situations and deliver enterprise-level solutions.
  • Creative thinker with courage and perseverance to bring ideas to reality.
  • Team-oriented leader who prioritizes collective success and builds strong cross-unit collaboration.
  • Able to Identify and drive adoption of AI-powered tools or practices within your team
