Position Overview And Objective
This role will serve as a Manager within Managed Risk , responsible for building and scaling our detection content Coverage, tooling, and data-driven insights that improve our Vulnerability content posture, operational maturity, and customer outcomes. The Engineering Manager will lead an onsite engineering team based in Bangalore, India, working closely with global engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to design systems and metrics that support a high-performing, AI-first engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
The manager for the Managed Risk team must possess strong detection content and security rules development skills, including expertise in OVAL, SCAP, NASL, and Notus technologies. This role requires extensive hands-on experience with scanners and scanner-related technologies. Experience with OpenVAS or similar vulnerability scanners, along with exposure to CSPM and web application scanning, represents a valuable addition to the core skill set.
This position demands prior hands-on cloud experience (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform) and deep familiarity with SDLC processes. Additional experience with AI tools is highly preferred. The successful candidate will bring proven experience managing high-performing teams to enhance product quality and strengthen the security content landscape, while leveraging emerging AI/LLM technologies (AWS Bedrock Flows, Databricks MLFlow) for automating content generation from vendors and internal development.
Expertise in cybersecurity and Vulnerability Management/Exposure Management is essential, along with demonstrated ability to guide architecture decisions, product roadmaps, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering and other functional areas.
Required Experience
12+ years of experience in software engineering roles with 2+ years in engineering leadership or management, including managing technical leads, developers.
Demonstrated experience building and scaling internal detection engineering tooling or platforms used by multiple teams.
Strong hands-on background in AWS cloud architecture, including distributed systems and data platforms.
Proven ability to define, implement, and operationalise engineering performance metrics and dashboards.
Familiarity with developer productivity, engineering excellence, or platform engineering domains.
Experience working directly with customers or customer-facing teams to translate needs into technical solutions.
Key Skills And Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who has 8+ years of prior experience in the development of security products/systems with a focus on 2 or more of the following key areas:
Classic Endpoint Vulnerability And Config Management
- Host based vulnerability detection
- Network based vulnerability scan and NVT development
- CIS Benchmark implementation
- Detailed knowledge in the inner workings of vulnerability scanners such as Qualys, Rapid7, Tenable, etc.Experience with identifying product and market changes and needed analysis/detection coverage changes in your existing sources
Cloud Config And Posture Management
- Dev of security policy in Cloud Service Providers (I.e Azure Policy, AWS Sec Hub)
- Pipeline Hardening Checks,CIS Benchmarks
Rule Development – will consider experience in rule/ signature development such as:
- NDR/IPS/IDS detections/signatures
- Snort
- EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) detections/signatures
- Sigma and Yara rules
- Development of anomaly and behavioral based detections
- Regular expressions
8+ years experience with the following Development Languages:
- Must Have: Python and/or Go,XML
- Bonus: Java, Node.js, C/C++
Experience with one or more of the following security tooling is highly regarded and will be considered:
