Bilingual Technical Project Manager (Japanese Language Specialist – JLPT N1/N2)

Location

Chennai / Bengaluru / Hyderabad / Remote (India)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bilingual Technical Project Manager with strong Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1/N2) to manage and coordinate technology projects between global Japanese clients and internal engineering teams. The ideal candidate will bridge communication gaps, manage project delivery, and ensure seamless collaboration across multilingual and multicultural environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end software development.
  • Coordinate with Japanese clients, stakeholders, and offshore/onshore technical teams.
  • Translate business requirements, technical documents, meeting notes, and project updates between Japanese and English.
  • Conduct client meetings, status reviews, and requirement gathering sessions in Japanese.
  • Prepare project plans, timelines, risk assessments, and delivery reports.
  • Track project milestones, resource allocation, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Work closely with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and architects.
  • Facilitate Agile/Scrum ceremonies and project governance activities.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • PMP / Scrum certification is an added advantage.

Language Requirements

  • Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT N1 or N2) certification mandatory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in:
  • Japanese
  • English

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience in Agile / Scrum / Waterfall methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools:
  • Jira
  • Confluence
  • MS Project
  • Trello or similar tools
  • Basic understanding of:
  • Cloud technologies
  • APIs
  • Databases
  • Web/mobile applications

Experience

  • 5+ years of project management or IT coordination experience.
  • Experience working with Japanese clients or Japan-based projects preferred.
  • Prior experience in software services, IT consulting, or product companies preferred.
