  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering.
  • 10 years of people management experience leading technical teams, including managing other managers.
  • Experience in designing large-scale distributed systems with microservice-based architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience engaging with customers and resolving escalations for technically complex issues.
  • Experience in architecting and integrating internal and third-party applications, particularly with financial, sales systems, or partner programs.
  • Experience with the lead-to-cash business process and an understanding of sales compensation and partner incentive models.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Innovative problem-solver who can navigate ambiguity and turn complex problems into clear solutions.

About The Job

The Google Cloud Business Platform (GCBP) team's primary objective is to scale the Google Cloud business by providing the infrastructure services and trusted platform for key business processes, unlocking commercial flexibility, streamlining transaction flows with AI, and scaling systems for evolving cloud patterns. This role will lead the engineering teams dedicated to building and managing the critical systems that drive Partner Network Program & Incentives, Sales Compensation, and Consulting. These domains are pivotal to Google Cloud's expansion: they cultivate a robust partner ecosystem to extend market reach, empower the sales organization through streamlined compensation planning and execution, and provide the essential infrastructure for delivering expert consulting services to our global customers.

As an Engineering Director in the GCBP organization, you will be a senior technical leader responsible for guiding geographically distributed teams that build highly scalable, resilient, and secure platforms for Partner Network Program & Incentives, Sales Compensation, and Consulting.

You will be tasked with defining, developing, and executing the technical strategy for these critical components of the Google Cloud Business, specifically by transforming these workflows through an AI-first approach that moves from data to contextual insights and autonomous execution. You will be instrumental in ensuring system readiness for strategic initiatives like the integration of the Wiz acquisition, particularly concerning Sales Compensation. Close collaboration with cross-functional counterparts in Sales, Partners, Finance, and Customer Success is essential to drive impactful, data-driven results.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and set the vision for the Partner Network Program & Incentives, Sales Compensation, and Consulting domains within GCBP, aligning with Google Cloud's overall strategy.
  • Lead, build, and mentor a high-performing, geographically distributed engineering team, promoting a culture of innovation and engineering excellence, and inclusivity.
  • Design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap, balancing short-term execution with long-term technology investments, including the strategic use of AI and agentic workflows.
  • Oversee software development, driving architecture selection, software design, execution, and operations to build resilient, scalable, and secure systems.
  • Ensure the team follows technical best practices, advocating for engineering excellence across your organization.
