The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for sourcing and managing suppliers for commodities such as fabrication parts, machined components, and injection moulded (plastic) parts. The role focuses on ensuring the cost-effective procurement while building a reliable and sustainable supply base.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop sourcing strategies aligned with company objectives and market changes.
- Assess potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance to ensure they meet the organization's standards.
- Evaluate suppliers technical capabilities through audits and assessments.
- Manage the full sourcing process: RFQ/RFI/RFP issuance and supplier selection
- Validate cost breakdowns, lead technical and commercial evaluations, and recommend suppliers.
- Monitor market trends to negotiate favorable pricing, contracts, and terms
- Maintain detailed records of supplier contracts, pricing, part development, and procurement activities.
- Track project timelines and ensure sourcing activities are completed on schedule.
- Work closely with product development, engineering, production, and logistics teams to understand their needs and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Align supplier capabilities with internal requirements for smooth operations.
- Support new product development and ongoing projects by ensuring timely sourcing.
- Identify potential risks such as capacity constraints or supplier financial issues and develop backup plans to address these challenges proactively
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical or related field)
- 57 years of experience in sourcing or procurement (manufacturing preferred)
- Good understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing processes
- Experience in handling commodities like fabrication parts, machined components, injection moulded (plastic) parts, etc.,
