Engineer-Software Test & Release

Job Summary

A detail-oriented engineer responsible for comprehensive modem protocol stack testing across multiple radio access technologies (RATs). This role includes interoperability testing with network vendors, analyzing signaling flows, and automating regression campaigns. The engineer must understand both user plane and control plane protocols and is expected to deliver accurate, high-quality results aligned with 3GPP standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute test cases for 2G/3G/LTE/5G modem and UE protocol stacks.
• Perform interoperability testing with major vendors (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent) and coordinate with NEM labs.
• Conduct network signaling analysis (Layer 2, Layer 3, NAS) and debug issues using logs and trace tools.
• Automate test scenarios using PERL, Python, TTCN, and support CI integration when applicable.
• Perform regression testing, core dump analysis, and root cause investigations for system failures.
• Use and maintain industry-standard tools like QXDM, QCAT, QPST, Prism, Anritsu, and other trace utilities.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure compliance with 3GPP specifications.
• Document test results, provide support for issue resolution, and contribute to process improvement.

Education & Qualifications

• Engineering Degree (B.E./B.Tech/MCA or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of telecommunications and protocol stack architectures

• Technology Domains: 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, Interop Testing, VSAT-SATCOM
• Scripting & Development: PERL, Python, Shell, TCL, C, C++, TTCN
• Platform Experience: Linux (internal and customer-specific testing environments)
• Standards Knowledge: 3GPP specifications, RAT protocol stacks (UE & RAN)
• Testing Tools: QXDM, QCAT, QPST, RTD, Anritsu, Keysight, Prism, trace analyzers, flashing tools
