Job Description
The Senior QA Engineer plays a strategic role within the QA function, driving high standards of quality across the software development lifecycle. This role is responsible for designing scalable automation strategies, leading quality initiatives, and integrating AI-powered solutions to optimize testing. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in automation frameworks, advanced CI/CD practices, and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation in quality engineering.
The Senior QA Engineer works cross-functionally with product, development, and DevOps teams to ensure quality is built into every phase of the product lifecycle, and to mentor junior team members in advanced testing techniques and best practices
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Playwright or Functionize or Any similar tool
- Develop, and maintain robust and reusable automation frameworks across UI, API, database, and non-functional testing layers.
- Leverage AI-driven testing platforms like Functionize/Playwright with Cursor AI to optimize test execution, reduce manual effort, and improve accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, QA Manager and DevOps to drive quality-first approaches and ensure test coverage across agile delivery pipelines.
- Perform advanced root cause analysis and debugging, ensuring rapid resolution of defects and production issues.
- Conduct regression testing and production release validation across distributed systems and provide QA Sign-off
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, AWS, or similar platforms.
- Review, mentor, and coach QA engineers on scripting, framework design, prompt engineering, and AI/ML-assisted testing.
- Stay current with emerging QA technologies, including AI-assisted testing, performance tools, observability platforms, and AI code editors.
- Monitor and report on quality metrics and KPIs, driving process improvements and test optimization initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2+ years in a senior role.
- Proven expertise in automation tools such as Playwright, Functionize, or equivalent.
- Advanced proficiency in scripting languages like JavaScript, TypeScript, Python(must), or Bash.
- Strong experience in test management tools such as TestRail and Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Playwright) and backend validation using SQL across databases such as Snowflake, Postgres, or SQL Server.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps principles.
- Deep experience in integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins).
- Experience with non-functional testing tools such as JMeter or K6.
- Strong knowledge of AI-driven testing tools, prompt engineering, and AI-powered development environments like GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, and Devin.
