Purpose
The purpose of this position is conducting material characterization activities using relevant testing equipment for PS-IN components

Responsibilities
Materials Characterization
Execute assigned tests on FIE components as per standard requirements and orders from domain test engineers.
Document test procedures and observations meticulously, and prepare draft test reports aligned with internal quality and reporting standards.
Perform structure-property correlation and comparative analysis to evaluate performance and durability.
Failure Analysis
Conduct detailed failure investigations of field-returned components and endurance trial samples, with clear interpretation of fractography and failure modes.
Identify damage mechanisms and verify material properties against engineering drawings and component specifications.
Prepare comprehensive failure analysis reports with visual evidence, metallurgical findings, and actionable recommendations.
Surface Damage Analysis
Perform detailed surface damage analysis and identify damage mechanisms such as abrasive wear, adhesive wear, fretting, and other tribological phenomena.
Quality
Ensure adherence to 5S standards, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality procedures as per organizational guidelines.
Implement efficiency improvement ideas through team engagement
Identify and implement best practices for quality enhancement and operational excellence.


Qualifications

Education
Bachelors degree in engineering (metallurgical or materials science / equivalent)

Experience
2+ yrs. of experience in the field materials Engineering and materials processing technologies.
Exposure in R&D is desirable


Additional Information

Knowledge
Strong theoretical foundation in materials and their manufacturing processes, with a deep understanding of structure-property correlations across material classes.
Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Optical Microscopy, Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) etc.,
Working knowledge of simulation and modeling tools relevant to materials engineering, including applications in heat treatment, mold flow analysis.
Awareness of emerging technologies, with theoretical knowledge of AI/ML applications in materials science, and a basic understanding of casting, forging, welding, and heat treatment processes.

Functional Skills
Competent in selection of right test equipment as per recommendation.
Competent communication and problem solving skills
