About Origin
Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.
About The Role
As an Embedded Systems Engineer (Robotic Power Tools), you are the core execution engine of the tooling team. You will be hands-on every daytaking apart power tools, designing adapter boards, and writing the firmware that makes them move. You will work closely with the mechanical and software teams to ensure these end-effectors are robust, reliable, and perfectly synchronized with the robot arm.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Implementation:
- Take ownership of microcontroller firmware development for specific smart tool systems
- Write clean, efficient C/C++ code to manage tool triggers, read external sensors, and report data back to the main robot
- Implement CAN bus and I2C/SPI drivers for reliable data exchange
Hardware Prototyping & PCB Design:
- Lead schematic design and PCB layout for interfacing circuits required for smart tool integration
- Hack off-the-shelf power tools, bypassing physical triggers and wiring in custom control logic
- Select appropriate microcontrollers, ADCs, and sensor components for each tool's unique needs
Testing & Debugging:
- Hands-on testing of your code on actual power tools under load
- Debug communication errors, power spikes, and sensor noise using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters)
