About Origin
Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.
About The Role
[Insert role description here - 2-3 sentences describing what the role entails and who they'll work with]
Key Responsibilities -
Hardware Hacking & Integration:
- Reverse-engineer and modify existing tools (drywall sanders, drills, sprayers) to allow for complete robotic control of power, speed, and sensing
- Design and route complex interfacing circuits and custom PCBs (Altium/KiCad) to bridge the gap between tool hardware and robot compute
Firmware Development:
- Write highly reliable, deterministic C/C++ firmware to control tool functions and aggregate sensor data (force, RPM, temperature)
- Implement state machines to manage tool lifecycles, fault detection, and recovery
- Ensure robust communication (CAN, SPI, UART) in electrically noisy environments
Rapid Prototyping & Validation:
- Champion a rapid prototyping approachsoldering, testing, and iterating on tool designs directly on the workbench
- Diagnose and resolve obscure hardware/firmware race conditions and EMI issues
Mentorship:
- Guide junior engineers in best practices for firmware architecture and PCB layout
