Job Summary
The Engineer, 4 provides strategic leadership focused on driving the architecture, design, and delivery of advanced financial technology systems. This position requires deep technical mastery, mentorship of engineers and collaboration across senior leadership. Engineers in this role lead innovation, optimize processes, and ensure solutions align with business objectives and enterprise standards and architect and lead full stack development across the SDLC, enhancing frontend, backend, and UI/UX components
Essential Job Functions
- Drive the design, development, and delivery of advanced financial technology solutions. Translate complex business needs into technical designs and oversee their implementation. Lead architectural decisions to ensure scalability, security, and performance. Take ownership of the most critical systems and resolve high-impact issues efficiently. - (15%)
- Lead the definition and enforcement of coding standards, testing protocols, and automation strategies across teams. Analyze and resolve defects, performance bottlenecks, and systemic inefficiencies. Continuously improve processes to align with enterprise goals, focusing on quality, scalability, and time-to-market. - (15%)
- Lead and oversee the design of scalable and secure software architectures. Ensure alignment with strategic goals and oversee the full development lifecycle. Provide expert guidance and technical direction to the team. - (15%)
- Drive initiatives to enhance system performance using cutting-edge technologies. Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce best practices to ensure robust, scalable solutions. Provide technical on-call support and respond to incident inquiries as needed. - (15%)
- Strategize and implement advanced UI/UX enhancements. Collaborate with teams to deliver exceptional user experiences. Utilize user feedback for continuous improvement and alignment with business needs. - (15%)
- Act as a trusted technical advisor across engineering, product, and business functions. Build relationships with senior stakeholders to align priorities and strategies. Mentor and guide engineers at all levels, promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration. Advocate for best practices in software engineering and Agile development while driving enterprise-wide initiatives. - (10%)
- Exhibit deep expertise in at least three programming languages. Lead the development and maintenance of multiple mission-critical applications. Serve as a subject matter expert in financial technology, payments systems, and cloud environments. Guide the adoption of emerging technologies and ensure alignment with Bread Financial's strategy. - (10%)
- Cultivate relationships across roles and organizations to maximize collaboration, partnership, and efficiency. Provide peer coaching and feedback formally and informally. Request and utilize feedback to foster personal development. - (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
- 12+ years of work experience in related field (Software Development Life Cycle across Full Stack, Frontend and Backend Development and UI / UX engineering).
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of work experience in related field (Software Development Life Cycle across Full Stack, Frontend and Backend Development and UI / UX engineering).
