Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of 50+ catastrophe modelling and exposure management professionals.
  • Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
  • Oversee workforce planning, capacity optimization, and skill development across multiple delivery locations.
  • Champion continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives across the function.

Operational & BAU Oversight

  • Oversee daily BAU delivery for catastrophe modelling and exposure management supporting NA and WW portfolios.
  • Manage multi-LOB operations including Property, D&F, Marine, Cyber, and Specialty classes.
  • Ensure SLAs, quality standards, and timeliness are consistently met.
  • Oversee exposure data validation, aggregation, and model execution processes across all LOBs.

Technical & Modelling Expertise

  • Lead the consistent application and governance of RMS and AIR catastrophe models across business units.
  • Drive model validation, calibration, and testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of outputs.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and reinsurance teams to interpret and communicate model results effectively.
  • Lead initiatives to transform cat modelling processes using AI and automation, including: - Automating exposure data ingestion, cleansing, and enrichment workflows.
  • Applying AI/ML techniques for risk segmentation, pattern recognition, and model output optimization.
  • Leveraging advanced analytics to enhance speed, accuracy, and decision support in modelling operations.

Analytics, Reporting & Research

  • Oversee portfolio and management reporting (PML, AAL, RDS, and accumulations).
  • Drive strategic exposure analytics and insights to support underwriting and portfolio strategy.
  • Lead or support research initiatives on emerging perils, model enhancements, and vendor model comparisons.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of internal and external regulatory and rating agency reporting.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

  • Act as a trusted advisor and liaison between Exposure Management, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Data & Analytics teams.
  • Maintain governance frameworks covering data quality, modelling standards, SLAs, and process compliance.
  • Drive operational excellence through automation, analytics, and data-led decision-making.
  • Communicate portfolio risk insights and modelling outputs to senior leadership in clear, actionable formats.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 1015+ years of experience in catastrophe modelling, exposure management, or risk analytics roles.
  • Proven track record of leading large, multi-location teams (50+ professionals).
  • Deep technical knowledge of RMS and AIR catastrophe models (certifications preferred).
  • Experience across multiple LOBs including Property, D&F, Marine, Cyber, and Specialty.
  • Strong expertise in model validation, data quality management, and exposure aggregation.
  • Demonstrated experience in transforming cat modelling processes through AI, ML, and automation.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SQL, Python, R, or similar data analytics tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or related disciplines.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Cat Modeller (RMS/AIR) or CCRA are desirable.
