About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Email Delivery Engineer with deep expertise in Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) systems and AWS cloud infrastructure. You'll be responsible for managing our enterprise-grade email delivery infrastructure, ensuring optimal deliverability, performance, and compliance for high-volume email campaigns.

KRA - MTA

  • Design, deploy, and maintain high-performance MTA environments handling millions of emails daily
  • Configure and optimize MTA instances for maximum throughput and reliability
  • Implement multi-domain email delivery architecture supporting multiple customer accounts
  • Set up and manage virtual MTAs for client isolation and branded delivery
  • Configure bounce processing systems and feedback loop mechanisms
  • Implement traffic shaping policies and rate limiting rules
  • Manage IP pool configurations for reputation management and delivery optimization
  • Set up comprehensive monitoring for delivery metrics and system health
  • Analyze bounce patterns and implement corrective measures
  • Troubleshoot delivery issues with ISPs and email providers
  • Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Conduct root cause analysis for system incidents
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations and procedures

Email Deliverability

  • Configure and maintain SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for multiple sending domains
  • Monitor and maintain sender reputation scores across major ISPs
  • Implement bounce classification, FBL and processing workflows
  • Manage whitelisting requests and ISP relationship programs

AWS Cloud

  • Deploy and manage MTA instances on AWS EC2 infrastructure
  • Configure VPC, security groups, and network ACLs for email infrastructure
  • Implement auto-scaling solutions for handling traffic spikes
  • Set up CloudWatch monitoring and alerting for system health
  • Manage Elastic IPs and IP warming schedules
  • Configure S3 for log storage and backup solutions
  • Implement disaster recovery and high-availability architectures
  • Configure SMTP relay systems and routing rules
  • Set up webhook integrations for bounce and delivery notifications
  • Implement custom bounce processing handlers and parsers
  • Configure queue management and retry logic
  • Set up header rewriting and content filtering rules
  • Integrate MTA with email marketing platforms and CRM systems
  • Configure accounting and logging systems for compliance tracking

Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with MTA systems in production environments
  • Strong understanding of SMTP protocol, RFC compliance, and email standards
  • Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, Route53)
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration (Ubuntu/RHEL)
  • Experience with email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC)
  • Knowledge of DNS management and configuration
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Perl)
  • Understanding of MySQL/MariaDB for bounce processing and logging

Domain Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of email deliverability best practices
  • Understanding of ISP filtering mechanisms and spam policies
  • Experience with IP warming and reputation management
  • Familiarity with feedback loops and complaint handling
  • Knowledge of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and email compliance regulations

Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Strong communication skills for client interactions
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with email marketing platforms

  • Familiarity with load balancing and high-availability configurations
  • Experience with log analysis tools
  • Understanding of email campaign management workflows
  • Certifications in AWS (Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator)
  • Experience in AI would be added advantage
