Job Title: Assistant Manager / Lead Electrical Engineer

Location: Telangana, India Department: Maintenance & Engineering (FBE Rebar Division)

Role Objective

To ensure 100% uptime of the FBE coating line by managing a complex electrical ecosystem involving high-frequency induction heating, advanced motor control (VFDs), renewable energy integration, and high-pressure compressed air systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Power Distribution & Solar Integration

• Substation Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of the on-site substation (likely 11/33kV stepping down).
• Solar Power Plant: Monitor and maintain the solar PV array, including string inverters, net metering, and synchronization with the state grid (TSSPDCL/TSNPDCL).
• Harmonic Mitigation: Manage power quality, as induction heaters and VFDs generate significant harmonics that can interfere with solar inverters and the local grid.

2. Process Equipment Maintenance

• Induction Heaters: Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on high-frequency induction coils and power units used to pre-heat rebar to the required 230C for epoxy bonding.
• Shot Blasting & VFDs: Troubleshoot and calibrate VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) for shot blasting turbines to ensure consistent surface profile (SA 2.5) and conveyor speed synchronization.
• High-Voltage Compressors: Maintain the electrical systems of the 110kV, 70kV, and 35kV compressors (Note: These likely refer to 110kW/70kW power ratings or specific high-pressure units). Ensure motor protection relays and soft starters are functioning to prevent voltage dips during startup.

3. Automation & Control

• PLC/SCADA: Maintain the logic controllers that sequence the Blast-Heat-Coat-Quench cycle.
• Sensors & Instrumentation: Calibrate infrared pyrometers (essential for temperature sensing before the epoxy spray booth) and electrostatic spray gun controllers.

4. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all installations comply with Indian Electricity Rules (IER) and CEA regulations.
• Maintain earthing pits and lightning arrestors, especially critical for the solar plant and high-rise rebar handling structures.

Required Technical Skills

• Equipment Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ABB/Siemens/Danfoss VFDs and industrial Induction Heating units.
• HV/LV Switchgear: Experience with Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB), Air Circuit Breakers (ACB), and Transformer Oil Testing.
• Solar O&M: Knowledge of SCADA-based solar monitoring and DC/AC distribution.
• Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical circuit diagrams and basic PLC ladder logic.
  

Candidate Profile

• Education: B.Tech/BE in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE).
• Experience: 58 years in a continuous process plant (Steel, Galvanizing, or Coating industries).

Typical Work Environment

This is a boots-on-the-ground role. You will spend 70% of your time on the shop floor dealing with heat (near induction coils), dust (near shot blasters), and outdoor solar installations.

Pro-tip: In the Telangana region, grid fluctuations can be common. Highlighting your experience with Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) or Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors (TVSS) in your CV would be a huge plus for this specific plant.
