Job Summary
Samsung C&T is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with expertise in ground-mounted Solar PV or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role focuses exclusively on the AC side design (not DC), covering grid connection, balance of plant, protection systems, and overall electrical design optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineering of AC side systems for ground-mounted Solar PV or BESS projects, including:
- Medium and High Voltage (MV/HV) systems
- Grid interconnection
- Switchgear and protection schemes
- Transformers, cabling, and substations
- Prepare single line diagrams (SLDs), load flow, short circuit & protection coordination studies.
- Perform electrical system simulations and analysis using industry-standard software (ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and local grid regulations.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and structural teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design.
- Review vendor/supplier technical documents for switchgear, transformers, and other AC equipment.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
- Support tendering teams with AC side technical inputs, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation.
- Ensure electrical safety, reliability, and energy efficiency in all design aspects.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 5 15 years in design engineering for ground-mounted Solar PV or BESS projects (AC side only).
- Strong expertise in MV/HV systems, substations, grid interconnections, and electrical balance of plant (eBoP).
- Proficiency in design tools like ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD, Revit (preferred).
- Sound knowledge of IEC, IS, IEEE, NEC standards relevant to solar/BESS projects.
- Familiarity with utility/grid codes and interconnection requirements.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for cross-functional project teams.
