About the Role
From the team behind India's largest travel and culture newsletter, a new publication is set to launch - one that connects ideas, people, and places through culture.
We are looking for a sharp, curious Editor to join our upcoming product's founding editorial team. The new editor will be instrumental in shaping the voice in India and abroad - someone who understands cultural nuance, global context, and how stories rooted in India can speak to the world.
Our ideal candidate should be equally comfortable editing essays, original features, and spotting the throughline between India and the world. The job requires a candidate who reads widely, writes with clarity, and can translate complexity into stories that feel both intimate and global.
Key Responsibilities
- Pitch and commission stories across culture, identity, technology, global politics, and society.
- Write and edit essays, features, and commentary pieces with a strong voice and clear point of view.
- Work with contributors and designers to shape stories from idea to publication.
- Track cultural trends, shifts, and ideas from India and around the world.
- Maintain editorial accuracy, consistency, and tone across our platforms.
- Collaborate with the editorial and growth teams on packaging, headlines, and social storytelling.
- Participate in creative and editorial discussions, including social media and brand voice development.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in media, ideally within newsletters, magazines, or culture publications.
- A minimum of 3 years of feature writing experience.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a sharp sense of tone and storytelling.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with millennial and Gen Z media consumption in India.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with contemporary conversations in identity, art, technology, and society.
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with creativity and autonomy.
