here is a sample job description.Feel free to add/change.We are seeking an experienced Gentran EDI Analystwith strong AS400/iSeriesexpertise to support, maintain, and enhance our enterprise EDI environment. This role will play a critical part in managing daily EDI transactions, integrating trading partners, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring seamless data exchange between internal business applications and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support EDI processes using Gentran for inbound and outbound transactions (e.g., 810, 850, 856, 997).
- Develop, configure, and maintain EDI maps and trading partner setups.
- Monitor daily EDI transmissions, proactively identify issues, and resolve transaction failures.
- Integrate EDI transactions with back-end systems running on IBM i (AS400).
- Collaborate with internal teams (IT, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Service) to analyze and document business requirements.
- Troubleshoot and debug EDI and AS400-related errors, including job queues, data queues, and CL programs.
- Onboard new trading partners, ensuring compliance with EDI standards and partner specifications.
- Maintain EDI documentation, maps, and trading partner configurations.
- Support EDI testing, validation, and production cutovers.
- Participate in modernization initiatives to integrate legacy EDI with newer platforms or ERP systems.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Gentran EDI mapping, configuration, and support.
- Strong technical expertise working with AS400/iSeries environments (CL, RPG preferred).
- Solid understanding of ANSI X12 EDI standards and common transaction sets (e.g., 850, 810, 856, 997).
- Experience with communication protocols such as FTP, SFTP, AS2, and VAN.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot EDI transactions and system logs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating EDI with ERP platforms (e.g., SAP ERP, Oracle E-Business Suite, or JD Edwards).
- Knowledge of XML, flat file formats, and EDI modernization strategies.
- Prior involvement in EDI migration or transformation projects.
- Familiarity with supply chain or retail trading partner networks
