Job Title: EB Underwriter – Employee Benefits
Department: Underwriting / Group Health & and Group Personel Accidents. Reporting To: Head – Employee Benefits / Senior Underwriter Location: Kothrud
Job Purpose: To evaluate, assess, and underwrite group insurance proposals (such as Group Health, Group Personal Accident, and Group Term Life) for corporate clients, ensuring profitability and compliance with underwriting guidelines while supporting the broking team in client servicing and renewals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyse group insurance proposals, claim experience, and demographics to assess risk exposure.
2. Prepare underwriting reports and recommend pricing or benefit changes based on risk evaluation.
3. Liaise with insurance companies to negotiate premium rates and policy terms and payouts.
4. Maintain adherence to insurer and regulatory underwriting guidelines.
5. Review census data, past claim ratios, and benefit structures.
6. Prepare comparative quotes and technical analysis for the RH/sales team.
7. Develop costing models and benefit illustrations for renewals and new business
8. Analyse claim experience and recommend renewal strategies.
9. Support the RH/ Sales team with renewal negotiations and rate finalization.
10. Track and report renewal status to ensure timely closures.
11. Coordinate with insurance companies, TPAs, and internal teams for smooth policy issuance and endorsements.
12. Provide technical support to sales, claims, and operations teams.
13. Participate in client presentations when technical input is required.
14. Ensure accurate documentation of underwriting files and client records.
15. Comply with IRDAI regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
Key Skills & Competencies:
1. Strong understanding of group health, GPA, and GTL insurance products.
2. Analytical ability to interpret claims data and actuarial inputs.
3. Negotiation and communication skills.
4. Attention to detail and time management.
5. Proficiency in MS Excel and data modelling.
Qualification & Experience:
1. Graduate / Postgraduate in Insurance, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum 2–5 years of experience in group insurance underwriting (broker or insurer side).
3. Knowledge of IRDAI regulations and TPA functioning preferred.
4. Any engineering graduate or diploma, Certification in Insurance (Licentiate / Associate – III / IIB will be added advantage
5. Freshers are welcome to apply, there will 3 months training and 6months probation, during training stipend will be 15000/-

1. Accuracy of underwriting analysis and quotations.
2. Turnaround time for quote and renewal submissions.
3. Client and insurer satisfaction levels.
4. Retention ratio of group clients.
