Roles & Responsibilities:
Serves as a team member of drainage design engineers involved in planning, designing, extension of existing drainage systems. Responsible for ensuring that all drainage designs based on the PWA drainage master plan are in accordance and compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable codes, in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in the drainage planning and design activities for all PWA governed projects in coordination with the Drainage Design Section Head / Area Lead, Engineering Designs Advisor.
Prepare hydraulic design for drainage networks using software's like SEWERCAD/STORMCAD
Participate in the review of the drainage design project plans and ensure alignment with the drainage master plan. Obtain clarifications from the Engineering Designs Advisor / Expert and other Design Engineers on any issues identified. Identify the relevant approval requirements in accordance with the Delegated Level of Authority.
Coordinate with the relevant design team (including Design Consultants) and the project delivery team for the details of the drainage designs.
Ensure that relevant drainage project designs/ plans/ models/ and the corresponding drainage drawings and specifications are in place and understood by the project delivery team.
Work closely with the relevant stakeholders in the identification of drainage designs/ plans /models for approval.
Coordinate with other business units and/or government ministries, if required, for the approval of the drainage projects designs specifications.
Participate in evaluating, selecting and appointing drainage design consultants for all drainage related programs/ projects in coordination with the Drainage Plan Team.
Participate in the review of design related risks and coordinate with the relevant Engineering Designs Advisors / Experts within the Department and Design Engineers for establishing appropriate controls to mitigate the risks as and when required.
As and when required, attend progress meetings with third parties and other design professionals, to assess progress of designs/ construction.
Assist the Drainage Design Section Head / Area Lead / Engineering Designs Advisor / Expert on routine Design Planning responsibilities and to ensure compliance with PWA Design Policies, Processes and Procedures.
To assist in reviewing current specifications and apply new technology use to such specifications, update of design standards and standard drawings.
Keep the Drainage Networks Design Section Head and the Engineering Designs Advisor / Expert informed of significant design issues that may jeopardize the achievement of PWA's goals.
Stay abreast of changes in the Qatar Construction Specifications / Building Code / Design Manuals, any other applicable standards.
Keep current with latest market trends and developments, and stay abreast with current trends and leading practices in design/ approaches/ tools focused in planning of drainage assets.
Education Qualification:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
