Job Purpose:
The specialist will provide professional door hardware services to support the architectural department. This role includes but not limited to specifying hardware sets, supporting the architectural department, review contractor/client queries, review of material submittals.
Key Responsibilities:
The role encompasses, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Create technical hardware sets and specifications for the architectural community which includes code compliance / applications as per EN/ANSI/BHMA standards.
- Provide solutions to architects on product application requirements.
- Participate in project meetings as needed. Assist with revisions, access control coordination, and requests for information during all phases of the project.
- Exhibit a basic understanding of electro-mechanical products and solutions including access control.
- Communicate door hardware coordination requirements and/or conflicts, such as access control, electrical requirements, and specialty doors.
- Maintain industry product knowledge by reviewing and understanding market data.
- Accurately interpret architectural drawings, specifications for the purpose of creating architectural hardware specifications to meet client, building code and project requirements.
- Review of material submittals and issuing comments.
- To provide training to staff and other stakeholders when requested.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years experience in the door and hardware industry aligning with the key responsibilities.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electronic solutions.
- Ability to read and understand floor plans, security plans and access control requirements.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of international building codes and standards (IBC, NFPA).
- Thorough knowledge of wood doors, steel doors, aluminum doors, specialty doors.
- Basic understanding of electricity and electronic components.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
- General knowledge of auto cad and revit.
- DHI / DOIT / GAI certification.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Adapting to all office procedures and requirements.
