Job Description: Engineering Director - UI / Frontend
About the Role
We are looking at someone to come and lead the UI/UX tech teams at super.money, setting strategy for scalable front-end architecture, driving innovation (React, React Native, etc.), ensuring quality through best practices (Agile, CI/CD), managing budgets/roadmaps, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver user-centric, high-performance interfaces. If you have experience handling large scale customer experiences, enhancing customer engagement, reducing performance times - these would be highly desirable traits.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Define the long-term UI engineering strategy across mobile and web platforms.
- Build, scale, and mentor high-performing UI engineering teams.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering for seamless delivery.
- Drive coding standards, UI performance benchmarks, and engineering excellence.
- Own roadmap for UI frameworks, reusable component libraries, and design systems.
Technical Ownership
- Provide deep technical direction across React Native and React.js.
- Architect scalable UI systems ensuring modularity and performance.
- Oversee TypeScript adoption, state management, and performance tuning.
- Standardize testing, accessibility, and security practices.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies where relevant.
Execution & Delivery
- Ensure delivery of high-quality UI features with predictable timelines.
- Improve engineering velocity via CI/CD and automation.
- Maintain UI code quality through review systems and governance.
- Lead initiatives on performance, UI consistency, and mobile-web convergence.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical
- 13+ years of frontend/mobile experience; 3+ in leadership.
- Hands-on expertise in React Native, React.js, TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of component design, rendering optimization, and architecture.
- Experience with design systems and platform-level UI frameworks.
- Understanding of backend APIs, GraphQL/REST.
Leadership
- Proven success leading 20–40+ person UI teams in a product company.
- Strong technical decision-making ability.
- Track record of hiring and mentoring engineering managers and senior engineers.
- Experience driving performance, reliability, and UX metrics.
Good to Have
- Micro-frontends, Next.js, Expo ecosystem.
- Experience with analytics, A/B testing.
- CI/CD for mobile apps (Fastlane, App Center).
- Experience building large-scale consumer products.
