Director of International Accounting Operations
Role Overview
The Director of International Accounting Operations leads global accounting operations from an offshore location, supporting North America and other regions. This role oversees the full accounting cycle, including close, reconciliation, consolidation, and reporting, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with US GAAP. The position partners closely with onshore finance leadership and plays a key role in standardizing processes, driving operational efficiency, and supporting system transformations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead international accounting operations across multiple regions
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, payroll coordination, treasury support, and cash management
- Manage global close and consolidation, including consolidated financial statements and management reporting
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Coordinate and support external audits and ensure audit readiness
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable international accounting standards
- Drive ERP and accounting system transformation initiatives
- Establish best practices and promote continuous improvement across accounting operations
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, building a culture of high performance and accountability.
- Provide cross-functional support and handle ad hoc finance projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CA, MBA, or equivalent preferred
- 15+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership roles
- Strong technical accounting expertise with US GAAP
- Proven experience building and managing offshore accounting teams
- Demonstrated success working in collaborative, team-based settings
- Proven ability to improve processes and scale operations
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
