Job Description

Designation Director IT Infrastructure

Experience

10 to 15 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure management, systems administration, network engineering, cybersecurity, or enterprise IT operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or strategic role managing large-scale IT environments (preferably in universities, education groups, or large organizations).

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science / MCA or equivalent

Strong technical foundation in IT infrastructure, networking, systems, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity

Professional certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, AWS/Azure/GCP, VMware, or equivalent will be an added advantage

Role Summary

The Director IT Infrastructure will provide strategic, operational, and technical leadership for planning, developing, and managing the University's IT infrastructure ecosystem. This role is responsible for ensuring secure, scalable, and high-availability IT systems that support academic delivery, research, administration, digital transformation, and future-ready smart campus initiatives. The position demands a forward-thinking leader capable of aligning technology with institutional goals while ensuring robust governance, cybersecurity, and service excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities

IT Strategy & Leadership

Define and implement the overall IT infrastructure vision, roadmap, and long-term technology strategy aligned with the University's academic and administrative objectives

Lead digital transformation initiatives including smart campus solutions, automation, ERP, LMS, cloud migration, and data centers

Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies, risks, and opportunities

Infrastructure, Systems & Network Management

Oversee campus-wide IT infrastructure including data centers, servers, storage, networks, Wi-Fi, cloud platforms, and end-user computing

Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and disaster recovery of all IT systems

Manage IT asset lifecycle, capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

Establish and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices

Ensure data security, privacy, compliance, and protection against cyber threats

Lead incident response, vulnerability management, audits, and business continuity planning

IT Operations & Service Delivery

Ensure reliable IT support services for faculty, students, and administrative staff

Define SLAs, monitor service performance, and drive continuous improvement

Implement IT governance frameworks, documentation, and process standardization

Team & Vendor Management

Recruit, mentor, and manage IT teams including network, systems, security, and support staff

Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous skill development

Manage vendors, service providers, contracts, and licensing agreements

Academic & Administrative Enablement

Support academic technology platforms such as LMS, examination systems, digital libraries, research computing, and online learning tools

Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to deliver technology-enabled solutions

Enable data-driven decision making through analytics and reporting systems

Governance & Administration

Oversee IT budgeting, procurement, and cost optimization initiatives

Ensure compliance with institutional policies, statutory requirements, and regulatory standards

Prepare IT strategy documents, performance reports, risk assessments, and presentations for senior management

Working Conditions

Full-time senior leadership role based at the institution's campus

Standard working hours with flexibility based on operational and project requirements

Occasional travel for vendor engagements, audits, conferences, or multi-campus coordination
