At Eaton India Innovation Center, we are looking for a Director - Electrical Sector Global.
Job Summary
- The purpose of this leadership role is to lead GEIS (Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions) and EMEA in EIIC (Eaton India Innovation Center) Engineering Organization, drive IoT platform strategy across & effectively insert them across the broader electrical sector (working with various EIIC divisional groups).
- Work directly with regional general managers (including GEIS India and China GM) and drive additional growth in the region, drive re-use, common process and platforms across various EIIC groups and including EMEA site.
- Drive stronger integration with the local research labs team (ERL India) and mature product insertions quicker.
- The role needs to define product ownership and execution strategies for the identified product lines from the global GEIS organization (50% of global head count is in EIIC). This includes organization skill and talent build up, deeply integrating cross functionally across the plants, product management and engineering, developing deep product technical expertise to peform wall to wall ownership (concept to launch and after-market support) and bring-in differentiated solutions to market.
- Responsible for Implementing strategies focused around Electrical Product which encompasses EMEA PMCC, Critical Systems, VAVE & Energy Transition and Digitalization teams for product design life experience along with expanded job responsibilities for APAC region.
- Work with Product engineering directors to formulate & execute MGPP and MGTP in sync with growth goals for EMEA and APAC.
- Shape Focus area and build portfolio that matters. Define clear road map for next 3 - 5 years and execute action items to mitigate identified gaps. Leverage newly built EIIC ecosystem for prototype and validation to accelerate time to market.
- Build footprint and define capability roadmap in APAC region through regional growth strategy at organization level.
- Define DMP strategy for EMEA and APAC division in line with global DMP targets. Shape and execute big bet projects. Identify DtV projects and execute identified DtV projects as per VA ProLaunch methodology.
- Build partnership with newly formed DMP organization and own engineering deliverables to shape and execute commodity projects.
- Promote culture of CI and automation to improve OTD and FPY.
- Define Digitalization strategy for various products considering competitor landscape working closely with Electrical Sector and Digital organization.
- Build culture of innovation through planned events, participating in brain storming. Identify opportunities for filling disclosures and execute division goals for IP.
- Work closely with product teams to drive product synergies.
- Collaborate closely with other Engineering Centers and other Engineering Teams to build Engineering footprint and contribute towards 'Simplify for Growth strategy for ES EMEA and APAC Region.
- Lead and develop capabilities for a team of 210+ engineers. Works closely with LSD, PDD, PQED & ICPD facilities in EMEA Region for New Product Developments, Cost out, sustaining and application engineering projects.
What You'll Do
- Execute and Manage as per the strategic direction provided by each of the business division. Align with product strategy. Provides leadership for the team to meet its short and long term goals.
- Provide leadership to innovate new differentiating products and services.. Lead innovation events to shape ideas from the team
- Lead strategic initiatives to improve the overall execution performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability. Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring for 'GEIS, EMEA and 'APAC Engineers and related COE team at EIIC to develop innovative electrical and mechanical designs for electrical Equipment and come up with digital solutions
- Develop and control the schedule and direct the work in order to effectively manage time. Monitor progress & achievements on projects. Provide regular reports on development & support activities
- Manage and develop people: identify, attract and develop key engineering talent for the organization. Develop successors in the organization
- Recruit and retain a team of engineers and support staff to provide both local product development and engineering services to the global engineering needs. Train, develop & motivate subordinates to achieve their professional goals & review their accomplishments.
- NPI efficacy and predictable execution on programs - Design cycle time reduction, Analysis first approach
- Build Organization Capabilities - Hire and develop talents for EMEA and APAC Region business divisions.
- Develop depth of capabilities in product engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, firmware and software as well as adjacent technology areas from Centers of Excellence (for e.g Modelling and Simulation CoE).
- Enable synergies for growth: Use of common CoE platforms in product development to improve Time to Market, Enhance effectiveness for ES
- Manages department budget and performance to forecast
- Utilizes DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for new product development &/or existing product improvements
- Teach, Mentor and Coach DfX Green belt certifications for EIIC engineering community.
Qualifications
- Minimum education for this position is a Bachelors in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering, preferred is a Masters degree
- At least 12+ years of leadership experience in a multinational engineering organization and a total of at least 15+ years in leading an interdisciplinary program and/or team.
Skills
- Should have sound knowledge in Electrical products for Power Distribution, Power Quality, Life Safety and Control Products.
- Strong background in DFSS with GB/BB certification Drive growth in respective team in terms of breadth and depth of capabilities in Electrical and mechanical design as well as adjacent technology areas in product engineering.
- Proven track record of demonstrating competencies to manage a large and diverse team.
- Strong leadership potential and be in a succession role.
