About Zeno
An unprecedented energy transition has begun. To meet 2040 net-zero goals, over 2 billion electric two-wheelers must be sold and $11 trillion in fuel consumption displaced. Zeno is building a technology platform to electrify this massive market, which contributes over 4% of global GHG emissions. Starting with East Africa, Zeno is developing a new energy ecosystem with ground-up engineering of an advanced electric motorcycle and a battery-swap network. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize its benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America.
The Role
Zeno is seeking a Director of Charging to lead the strategy, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of our EV charging and battery-swap infrastructure. This role will own charging product roadmaps, field performance, supplier partnerships, reliability targets, and large-scale rollout of charging systems across multiple regions. You will be responsible for building a world-class charging ecosystem that delivers scalability, uptime, safety, and customer convenience.
What You'll Do
• Build and drive the long-term charging strategy for Zeno's battery-swap network and charging ecosystem.
• Lead engineering teams across charging hardware, embedded software, cloud connectivity, thermal systems, and infrastructure integration.
• Define product roadmaps for AC/DC chargers, swap-station charging modules, grid interfaces, and smart-charging features.
• Own reliability, uptime, field performance, and lifecycle management of all charging systems.
• Collaborate with suppliers, OEMs, and technology partners to evaluate, negotiate, and onboard charging solutions and components.
• Oversee validation plans, DVP&R cycles, homologation, and compliance with AIS, IEC, UL, ISO standards.
• Lead cross-functional alignment with powertrain, BMS, electrical, firmware, operations, and service teams.
• Use field data, analytics, and diagnostics to drive continuous improvements and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Plan large-scale deployment of charging infrastructure across markets with operations and business teams.
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization focused on charging innovation and reliability.
• Define CapEx/OpEx budgets, vendor strategies, and cost-reduction programs for charging systems.
• Represent charging engineering in executive reviews and support strategic planning for global expansion.
What You Bring
• 12–18 years of experience in EV charging, power electronics, infrastructure engineering, or adjacent high-reliability systems.
• Deep understanding of AC/DC charging, power conversion, grid interaction, and electrical protection systems.
• Proven leadership in scaling charging products or infrastructure across regions or markets.
• Strong experience with certification and compliance for EV charging systems (AIS, IEC, UL, ISO, etc.).
• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems, BMS-charger interaction, and thermal behavior.
• Expertise in high-power electronics, HV safety, and reliability engineering.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams (hardware, firmware, controls, validation).
• Strong data-driven decision-making skills with experience in diagnostics, telemetry, and field analytics.
• Ability to communicate and align with C-level leadership, partners, and regional operations teams.
• Passion for building technology that impacts energy access and transportation at scale.
Benefits
• Competitive leadership compensation and performance-based incentives.
• Company-sponsored healthcare coverage.
• Opportunity to architect a charging ecosystem powering a next-generation EV platform.
• Build and lead a world-class engineering team transforming the global two-wheeler energy landscape.
