Mission of the Role
The Director of Business and Operations collaboratively leads our business office, facilities, food services, security, transport, and procurement teams to provide the most efficient, innovative, and highest-quality services to the organisation while maintaining compliance with Indian law and guidelines.
Reports to the school Director, The DBO must be an active member in various Board Committees,
including the Finance, Capital Projects, and Risk Management Committees. This position oversees finance, capital resource management, and facilities operations, including a multi-million dollar facilities masterplan project.
Responsibilities
1) Business /Finance Operations:
Development, management, and monitoring of a mission-driven Annual Budget with strategic short and long-term financial planning
Management and monitoring of strategic short-term and long-term investments based on investment guidelines established by the Board's Finance Committee
Present monthly Fiscal Reports to include FICA, PF, and other relevant accounts.
Manage reserves and working capital requirements for operational expenditures.
Maintain the Internal Control Manual, ensure its compliance, and implement recommendations from the Audit Committee.
Ensure the assets and liabilities are covered by adequate insurance coverage.
2) Purchasing:
Provide primary supervision of the finance and purchasing managers on industry best practices
Ensure the policy is followed for all expenditures.
Effectively lead and manage appointments of overseas and local vendors.
Develop and implement purchasing processes that ensure the annual overseas shipments are processed to reach within the time frame by coordinating with the US Embassy.
3) Facilities:
Provide primary supervision of the facilities manager in line with the values of and policy, focusing on continuous improvement and creating positive work environments,
In collaboration with the facilities manager, oversee projects and facilitate their implementation
while meeting project timelines and budgets
In collaboration with the facilities manager, ensure all physical facilities are safe and secured.
Plan, develop, maintain, and monitor multi-year capital projects.
4) Food Services:
Directly supervise the food services manager
Collaborate with the food services manager to meet international food safety and hygiene standards.
In collaboration with the food services manager, ensure food services costs remain within budget
5) Security and Transport:
Directly supervise the security manager
In collaboration with the security manager, ensure safety and security by developing and implementing appropriate safety plans, measures, and procedures.
Maintain a productive relationship with the US Embassy RSO.
Qualification & Skills
A high level of integrity and professionalism
The ability to build, maintain, and lead effective teams and engage team members by developing strong working relationships that foster collaboration and inclusion.
Master's degree in Finance and/or Chartered Accountant with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong financial acumen and project management skills.
Minimum 10 years of experience working in a leadership role in business finance.
Excellent negotiation skills and exposure to global stakeholder management
Experience in an international capacity is preferred.
