Job Description

Axtria is seeking a hands-on leader to drive Clinical AI and Advanced Analytics initiatives for pharmaceutical R&D clients. This role combines technical expertise in AI/ML/GenAI with strong leadership to deliver cutting-edge solutions and mentor high-performing teams. You will actively participate in solution design and execution while managing teams that build predictive models, NLP pipelines, and generative AI applications for clinical data. The position offers an opportunity to shape Axtria's AI-driven clinical transformation strategy, deliver impactful projects, and foster innovation in a rapidly evolving domain.

About the Role

Core Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Delivery: Own end-to-end delivery of AI/ML/GenAI projects across clinical operations, biometrics, drug safety, and medical affairs. Supervise project leads and junior data scientists, ensuring technical rigor and timely execution.
  • Solution Design & Execution: Architect and implement advanced analytics solutions leveraging Python/PySpark, Databricks, and Dataiku DSS. Develop and deploy models for predictive analytics, NLP, and GenAI, ensuring scalability and compliance.
  • Domain Expertise: Work with diverse clinical data sources (CTMS, EDC, IRT, Labs, EHR/RWD) and apply CDISC standards (CDASH, SDTM, ADaM, FHIR). Translate complex clinical requirements into actionable AI solutions aligned with regulatory frameworks.
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Champion emerging AI/ML techniques (LLMs, transformers, deep learning) and drive adoption within client organizations. Represent Axtria in client workshops and industry forums as a thought leader in Clinical AI.
  • Team Development: Mentor team members on technical and domain best practices. Foster collaboration across data engineers, clinical SMEs, and cloud/infrastructure teams.
  • Design modern AI solution architectures including AgenticAI frameworks and lead successful implementation and delivery of these solutions.
  • Stay updated on evolving AI landscapes, customer requirements, and technology innovations to bring best-in-class solutions to clients.
  • Bring subject matter expertise in fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) and knowledge of various techniques and frameworks for creating AI agents from scratch using LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Agno, n8n, etc.
  • Possess deep understanding of building LLMs from scratch and encoder-based or encoder-decoder architecture, NLP techniques, and transformer models.
  • Create new capabilities, propose and lead proof of concepts (PoCs), and develop GTM collateral to support sales and business development initiatives.
  • Maintain high CSAT and NPS scores to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 12+ years in clinical analytics/data science, with at least 4–6 years in leadership roles. Proven track record in AI/ML solution delivery for clinical R&D, including NLP and predictive modeling. Strong understanding of clinical trial lifecycle and regulatory compliance (GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
