Job Summary
The CAD Master is responsible for creating accurate patterns, markers, and layouts using CAD software for plastic-based products such as raincoats, ponchos, and protective wear. The role ensures optimal material utilization, production feasibility, and adherence to design specifications, contributing directly to cost control and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Pattern Development & CAD Operations
- Create, modify, and grade patterns for raincoats, ponchos, and plastic garments
- Develop markers to achieve maximum material utilization and minimum wastage
- Convert design sketches and tech packs into production-ready CAD patterns
- Ensure accuracy in measurements, seam allowances, welding margins, and sealing overlaps
Material & Process Coordination
- Work with PVC, EVA, PU, and coated fabrics, considering thickness (micron) and shrinkage
- Coordinate with sampling and production teams for pattern feasibility
- Support cutting methods such as die cutting, manual cutting, and CNC cutting
Production & Quality Support
- Provide CAD support during sampling, pre-production, and bulk production
- Rectify pattern issues identified during trial runs or production
- Ensure patterns comply with quality, fit, and waterproofing standards
Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain digital records of patterns, markers, and revisions
- Generate cutting layouts and size-wise consumption reports
- Support IE and costing teams with accurate material consumption data
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of CAD software (Gerber, Lectra, Optitex, Tukatech, or similar)
- Experience in plastic garment / rainwear pattern making
- Understanding of welding, seam sealing, and plastic material behavior
- Expertise in marker efficiency and yield optimization
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / Degree in Pattern Making, Fashion Technology, or CAD Design
- 48 years of experience as a CAD Master in plastic/rainwear or garment industry
- Factory-based CAD experience preferred
