Job Description

  • Design and architect SCADA systems for Utility Scale Solar, Wind, and BESS projects including HMI design, network architecture, server redundancy, and historian configuration
  • Develop single-line diagrams, network topology, data point lists, and communication architecture documents for SCADA integration with inverters, MFMs, weather stations, and protection relays
  • Specify SCADA platform requirements (Siemens/Schneider/ABB/GE/Yokogawa or equivalent) and evaluate commercial vs. open-source solutions
  • Design and implement PPC systems for real-time active/reactive power control, frequency regulation, voltage control, and ramp rate management per Indian Grid Code requirements
  • Configure AGC (Automatic Generation Control), AVC (Automatic Voltage Control), power curtailment logic, and grid support functionalities including LVRT/HVRT and frequency response
  • Implement forecasting integration (solar/wind) and optimize dispatch strategies for hybrid Solar+Wind+BESS plants
  • Design BESS Plant EMS for SOC management, charge/discharge optimization, thermal management, cell balancing coordination, and battery protection strategies
  • Integrate BESS EMS with PCS (Power Conversion System), BMS (Battery Management System), fire suppression, and HVAC systems for containerized/skid-mounted BESS
  • Configure arbitrage algorithms, peak shaving, load levelling, and ancillary services (frequency regulation, voltage support) per market requirements
  • Implement SLDC/NLDC communication per URTDSM (Unified Real-Time Dynamic State Measurement) framework using IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus protocols
  • Configure RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) for telemetry, supervisory control, and data acquisition ensure 2 second data refresh rates as per CERC/POSOCO requirements
  • Coordinate with RLDC/SLDC for system integration testing, communication protocol validation, and regulatory compliance certification
  • Integrate SCADA with solar inverters (central/string), wind turbines (3-5MW class), BESS PCS, MV switchgear, transformers, and protection relays via Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 61850, and proprietary protocols
  • Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and performance testing for SCADA/PPC/EMS systems troubleshoot communication failures and control logic errors
  • Develop O&M procedures, SCADA operation manuals, alarm management protocols, and training materials for plant operators
  • Implement IEC 62351 and NERC-CIP compliant cybersecurity measures including network segmentation, firewall rules, VPN access, and intrusion detection systems
  • Design data historian architecture for long-term storage, analytics, and regulatory reporting integrate with cloud platforms for remote monitoring
  • Evaluate SCADA/PPC/EMS vendors and technology providers assess technical capabilities, scalability, interoperability, and lifecycle costs
  • Prepare technical specifications, RFQ documents, bid evaluation matrices, and procurement recommendations for SCADA systems

The Successful Applicant

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering
  • 10-15 years in SCADA engineering for utility-scale renewable energy projects proven track record with SCADA commissioning for Utility Scale Solar/Wind/BESS projects
  • Expertise in SCADA platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, WinCC/PCS7, Schneider ClearSCADA/EcoStruxure, ABB System 800xA, GE iFIX) proficiency in IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus protocols experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development
  • Strategic thinking in SCADA/PPC/EMS design for complex hybrid renewable energy systems (Solar+Wind+BESS)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for communication protocol issues, control logic debugging, and system integration challenges
  • Excellent coordination with RLDC/SLDC, equipment vendors (inverter OEMs, BESS suppliers), EPC contractors, and O&M teams
  • Leadership and team management with ability to mentor SCADA engineers and manage commissioning activities across multiple project sites
  • Attention to detail in cybersecurity implementation, data integrity verification, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Timely commissioning of SCADA/PPC/EMS systems and successful SLDC/NLDC communication integration
  • Quality of technical specifications, vendor evaluations, and system architecture documentation
  • System uptime, data availability ( 99.5%), and compliance with grid code requirements (zero non-conformities)
  • Successful FAT/SAT completion, PPC performance validation, and optimization of BESS dispatch strategies
