Devops Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance our cloud ecosystem as we transition from Microsoft Azure to Amazon Web Services (AWS). A strong focus of this role will be on Kubernetes operationsparticularly in managed platforms such as Amazon EKS and Azure AKS. The ideal candidate brings deep AWS experience, working knowledge of Azure, solid Windows and Linux administration skills, and an automation-first mindset. This role also manages our scheduled VM patching twice per month to maintain security and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
- Manage and support cloud environments with a primary focus on AWS.
- Play a key role in our Azure-to-AWS migrationincluding deployment, testing, operational readiness, and Kubernetes platform transitions.
- Ensure reliability, performance, and security of cloud-hosted and containerized services.
- Optimize and support managed Kubernetes offerings (EKS and AKS) as part of ongoing cloud operations.
System Administration
- Administer and maintain Windows and Linux environments.
- Execute recurring weekend VM patching activities twice per month.
- Troubleshoot system and platform issues in collaboration with internal engineering teams.
Automation & IaC
- Develop automation scripts and tooling to improve operational efficiency (Python preferred).
- Support Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives; familiarity with AWS CDK is a plus.
- Enhance deployment workflows, IaC pipelines, and automated provisioning for Kubernetes-based environments.
Containerization & Kubernetes
- Own daytoday operations of our Kubernetes platforms, with priority on Amazon EKS and additional support for Azure AKS during migration.
- Manage Kubernetes deployments, upgrades, scaling strategies, cluster security, and integration with cloudnative services.
- Implement and support observability tooling for Kubernetes clusters (logging, metrics, tracing).
- Partner with application engineering teams to ensure best practices for containerized workloads and cloudnative design patterns.
Required Qualifications
- 36 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or similar engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (compute, networking, IAM, storage, monitoring, etc.).
- Solid administration skills across both Windows and Linux systems.
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience, preferably within EKS and/or AKS.
- Working knowledge of Azure, especially around VMs, networking, and identities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python for automation.
- Familiarity with AWS CDK or other IaC tooling.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- AWS certifications are a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem tools (Helm, Kustomize, Prometheus/Grafana, service mesh technologies).
