Development Manager

Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 5-10 engineers to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Set clear goals, conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and nurture individual and team growth.
• Identify and groom future technical leaders within the team.
• Promote a culture of curiosity, reasoning, and innovation aligned with Bottomline's mission and values.

Technical Leadership

• Provide hands-on technical guidance with coding and architecture decisions.
• Ensure adherence to software development best practices, quality standards, and non-functional requirements.
• Audit technical decisions and drive teams toward optimal solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Production Support, and Operations to ensure exceptional customer experience.

Planning & Process Management

• Develop and implement frameworks to track project schedules, milestones, and success criteria.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks/issues, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Optimize software development processes to improve efficiency and delivery quality.
• Drive data-driven decision making for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
