Job Description: DET Apprentice - Logistics

Purpose of the position: Entry level position in logistics department for ensuring the efficient and timely movement of materials and finished goods.

Key Responsibilities

The Trainee will be guided by senior personnel and will be responsible for assisting in various day-to-day logistics operations, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of raw materials, components, and finished products.
  • Learning and applying standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory control and material handling.
  • Coordinate the inbound and outbound shipment of heavy machinery components and large-scale equipment.
  • Assisting with the preparation of necessary documentation (e.g., challans, packing lists, waybills) for dispatch.
  • Learning about different modes of transport (road, rail, sea) relevant to heavy equipment and monitoring consignment movement.
  • Accurately entering and updating logistics data into the ERP/SAP system (e.g., Goods Receipt, Goods Issue).
  • Maintaining systematic and organized records of all logistics activities and transactions.
  • Identifying potential bottlenecks in the logistics flow and suggesting improvements.
  • Adhering strictly to all safety protocols and regulations within the warehouse and yard, especially concerning the handling of components and oversized materials.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Year of Passing - 2023 / 2024 / 2025 - No active backlog & Not completed apprentice in past) .
  • Experience: Fresher / 0-1 year experience.
  • He / she should not have gone through apprentice training in past.

Desired Skills

  • Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of engineering components and materials handling.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation and material handling.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a demanding plant environment.
  • Computer Proficiency: Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word). Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
