Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Design & Drafting:
- Create electrical design layouts, schematics, and detailed drawings for a variety of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication systems, and control systems.
- Develop design solutions based on project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform calculations and simulations to determine the proper specifications for electrical components and systems.
- Ensure all electrical designs adhere to safety, environmental, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, etc.).
- Update and modify existing electrical designs as necessary to reflect changes in project scope or specifications.
Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
- Work closely with senior electrical engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure electrical designs are integrated effectively with other aspects of the project, such as mechanical, civil, and structural designs.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical support during the design, implementation, and construction phases.
- Provide input on the selection of electrical equipment, materials, and systems, ensuring compatibility with the overall project requirements.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and as-built drawings.
- Assist in the preparation of design packages, technical proposals, and other project-related documents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of design changes, revisions, and approvals.
- Prepare detailed material take-offs (MTO) and bill of materials (BOM) for electrical systems.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that all electrical designs are compliant with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Conduct design reviews and quality checks to identify and resolve any design issues or inconsistencies.
- Participate in design audits and inspections to verify that electrical systems are installed according to the approved designs.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality control throughout the design process, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Support to Project Execution:
- Provide ongoing technical support to the project team during the construction and commissioning phases of the project.
- Assist in resolving any technical challenges that arise during the execution of the electrical systems.
- Monitor project timelines and deliverables to ensure that electrical designs are completed on schedule.
Continuous Learning & Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical design engineering.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal design standards, processes, and tools.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-7 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong background in creating detailed electrical layouts and schematics.
- Industry Expertise: Experience with electrical design for industries such as construction, energy, manufacturing, or industrial projects is preferred.
- Licensing: Certification as an Electrical Designer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
