Key Responsibilities
Creative Leadership & Design Vision
- Define and uphold the firms overall design philosophy, aesthetic, and standards
- Lead concept development for key projects and marquee clients
- Review and approve design deliverables across all stages (concept to execution)
- Ensure consistency, innovation, and high-quality design outcomes
Client Engagement & Business Partnership
- Act as a senior design representative in client presentations and key meetings
- Translate client briefs into compelling design narratives and solutions
- Build long-term client relationships and support business development efforts
- Collaborate with leadership on pitches, proposals, and design strategy
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the design team (interior designers, junior designers, stylists)
- Guide skill development, performance reviews, and career growth
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and creative studio culture
Project Oversight & Delivery
- Oversee design delivery across multiple projects simultaneously
- Partner with Project Managers to manage timelines, scope, and resourcing
- Ensure design intent is maintained through documentation, site coordination, and execution
- Resolve design challenges during construction and installation phases
Design Quality & Standards
- Establish and maintain design guidelines, templates, and best practices
- Oversee material selection, FF&E standards, and vendor coordination
- Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and sustainability standards
Studio & Process Management
- Improve design workflows, review processes, and internal collaboration
- Support studio planning, resourcing, and utilization with leadership
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, libraries, and design systems
Required Qualifications
- 1015+ years of experience in interior design, with leadership responsibility
- Proven track record leading high-end residential, commercial projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual strength and executed projects
- Experience managing and mentoring design teams
- Deep knowledge of materials, finishes, FF&E
