Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Design Manager with 5–10 years of experience in architectural design, design development, construction documentation, site coordination, and project delivery.
The candidate will be responsible for managing design development, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring timely drawing delivery, and supporting projects from the design stage through execution. The role requires strong technical knowledge, design coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage architectural design development from concept through execution.
- Coordinate the preparation and delivery of design development, working, construction, and detailed drawings.
- Ensure timely and accurate drawing submissions in line with project schedules.
- Coordinate with Structural, MEP, Interiors, Landscape, and other consultants.
- Review architectural drawings for design quality, technical accuracy, and coordination.
- Identify and resolve design, technical, and coordination issues.
- Conduct regular site visits and site coordination to ensure execution aligns with approved designs and drawings.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and site teams to resolve construction-related issues.
- Review shop drawings, material submissions, samples, and technical details.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, consultant coordination meetings, and project discussions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, standards, and project requirements.
- Monitor project deliverables, timelines, and drawing issuance schedules.
- Ensure quality and consistency across all architectural deliverables.
- Manage and prioritize multiple project deliverables while meeting deadlines.
- Guide and mentor junior architects and design team members.
- Support senior management/project leadership in design decisions and project delivery.
- Maintain proper project documentation and drawing records.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Architectural Design & Design Development.
- Excellent understanding of construction documentation and architectural detailing.
- Hands-on experience in site coordination and project execution.
- Strong experience in working drawings and construction drawing delivery.
- Good knowledge of construction materials, methods, and detailing.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills.
- Ability to manage clients, consultants and internal teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good project planning and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- AutoCAD proficiency is essential.
- Knowledge of Revit/BIM, SketchUp, Photoshop, and other architectural software will be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification & Experience
- B.Arch / M.Arch from a recognized institution.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in an architectural consultancy, design firm, or similar organization.
- Experience in handling projects from design development through construction/site execution is preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience in Design Development, Construction Documentation, Site Management, Consultant Coordination, and Drawing Delivery.
- Candidates with experience in commercial, residential, hospitality, institutional, mixed-use, or large-scale projects will be preferred.
- Should be capable of independently managing design deliverables and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Should have strong exposure to client coordination and project execution.
- Candidates based in Chennai or willing to relocate to Chennai are preferred.
