Design Manager

Role Overview:

As the Design Manager at a Senior Manager level in our solar company, you will lead the design and engineering teams in developing innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solar power solutions. You will ensure the technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, and performance optimization of solar energy systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects. This leadership role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional project management skills to deliver world-class solar designs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Management:

• Oversee and mentor a team of design engineers and CAD professionals, ensuring high-quality output and professional development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, procurement, construction, and operations to ensure seamless project execution.

2. System Design and Development:

• Lead the design process for solar PV systems, including layout, electrical schematics, and structural configurations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEC), and regulations.
• Optimize designs to maximize energy yield, reduce costs, and enhance system reliability.

4. Project Planning and Coordination:

• Work closely with project stakeholders to develop design schedules and meet deadlines.
• Support feasibility studies, technical due diligence, and site assessments.

5. Innovation and Technology Integration:

• Research and integrate emerging solar technologies, tools, and software to enhance system performance.
• Identify opportunities for innovation in design to support the company's sustainability and profitability goals.

6. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Act as the technical expert during client meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to resolve technical challenges.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in solar design and engineering, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Proficiency in solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, HelioScope) and familiarity with GIS tools.
