Position overview
As a Design Manager – Machine Design, you will manage a team of design engineers responsible for developing innovative machine designs, ensuring technical excellence, timely delivery, and alignment with customer requirements. You will serve as a key interface between our clients and the internal design team, providing both technical leadership and project management oversight.
Responsibilities
- Manage the design and development of special purpose machines (SPM), automation equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Manage the complete design lifecycle — concept, feasibility, design validation, detailing, and manufacturing support.
- Provide technical direction to design engineers using CAD tools : Solid Edge
- Collaborate with customers to understand design requirements, functional specifications, and project deliverables.
- Oversee design reviews, DFM/DFA studies, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety norms.
- Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and electrical/automation teams for seamless project execution.
- Evaluate and approve bought-out components, materials, and suppliers for project requirements.
- Drive innovation, standardization, and design optimization across multiple projects.
- Mentor and develop design engineers to build technical competency and team capability.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in machine design, product development, or SPM design.
- Strong command over Solid Edge.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, automation, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience in leading design teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills.
