Position: Design Lead – Brand & Visual Design

Job Summary
We are looking for a strong, hands-on Design Lead to elevate the overall quality of visual output across the agency. This role is responsible for shaping and improving the design language of both client deliverables and our own brand presence.
The ideal candidate combines strong visual craft with leadership ability. They should be capable of creating high-quality work, guiding designers through clear feedback and direction, building systems that improve consistency, and ensuring that every output reflects both strategic thinking and strong aesthetics.
This is not a pure people-management role. We are looking for someone who actively contributes to design work while setting standards, mentoring the team, and driving better creative outcomes across the board.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Leadership & Creative Direction
- Lead the visual direction for client projects across digital, social, presentations, campaigns, and branded communication
- Define and evolve high-quality design standards for the agency
- Translate business and brand objectives into compelling visual solutions
- Provide clear design direction, feedback, and art direction to team members and collaborators
- Review work before delivery to ensure quality, brand alignment, and communication effectiveness
2. Design Language & System Building
- Build and strengthen visual systems, templates, and design guidelines
- Ensure consistency across presentations, pitch decks, social media creatives, campaign assets, and marketing materials
- Improve the agency's visual identity across website, social, proposals, and internal communication
- Develop scalable processes so quality does not depend solely on individual effort
3. Hands-On Design Execution
- Contribute directly to high-priority and high-visibility design work
- Design brand assets, campaign creatives, presentation decks, and marketing collateral
- Support concept development, layout systems, typography, and visual storytelling
- Collaborate with copy, content, strategy, and account teams
- Maintain high standards of taste, detail, and execution quality
4. Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Mentor junior and mid-level designers
- Conduct regular reviews to improve craft, speed, and consistency
- Assign work based on strengths, timelines, and priorities
- Build a culture of design excellence, ownership, and constructive feedback
- Identify capability gaps and improve team processes and output quality
5. Client Delivery & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Interpret client briefs and translate them into clear design approaches
- Present ideas, rationale, and design decisions confidently
- Collaborate with internal teams to align on expectations and timelines
- Ensure deliverables are on-brand, on-time, and aligned with objectives
- Support pitches and new business initiatives through impactful visuals
6. Process Improvement & Quality Control
- Establish workflows and review systems to improve efficiency and quality
- Standardize file organization, versioning, templates, and handoffs
- Improve turnaround time and consistency across projects
- Introduce tools and AI-enabled workflows to enhance productivity
- Balance speed, originality, and brand consistency
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong foundation in visual design: typography, layout, hierarchy, composition, color, and branding
- Proven ability to lead projects from brief to final delivery
- Experience in building or improving brand systems and templates
- Strong presentation design and visual storytelling skills
- Ability to mentor designers and provide actionable feedback
- Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills
- Good understanding of digital-first design, social formats, and campaign creatives
- High attention to detail and strong quality control instincts
- Strong time and project management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort using AI tools for ideation and workflow efficiency
Tools & Platforms
- Figma
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Canva and presentation tools
- Basic understanding of motion/video workflows (preferred)
- Familiarity with AI-enabled design tools (preferred)
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Media, or a related field
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in design, branding, or creative roles
- Prior experience in an agency, branding studio, or marketing environment preferred
- Experience mentoring or guiding a small team of designers
- Strong portfolio showcasing branding, campaigns, presentations, and digital work
