Job Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer - II independently develops engineering designs and manufacturing drawings for oil & gas flow control and pressure-containing equipment. The role requires strong CAD skills, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to execute engineering tasks with limited supervision while supporting junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Prepare fabrication, assembly, and GA drawings along with BOMs for complex components and assemblies.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerances, and fit requirements to ensure manufacturability and functional performance.
  • Support product design for at least one of the following standards and product lines: API 6A, API 16A, or API 16C equipment, including valves, choke manifolds, wellhead equipment, or pressure-containing equipment.
  • Perform design calculations and tolerance analysis for pressure-containing and mechanical components.
  • Support engineering changes, cost reduction initiatives, and product improvements.
  • Provide technical clarification to manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams.
  • Manage drawing revisions and engineering change documentation in Autodesk Vault or PLM system.
  • Ensure compliance with company drafting standards and engineering procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute technical recommendations.
  • Guide Engineer I / junior designers in drafting standards and design practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Typically, 37 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in oil & gas or heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault (mandatory).
  • Knowledge of:
  • API 6A, API 16A, API 16C equipment and standards (preferred)
  • Manufacturing processes, tolerances, and GD&T
  • Engineering drawings, materials, and surface treatments
  • Pressure equipment design fundamentals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Good communication and teamwork capability.
