Job Description

We're seeking an early-career Mechanical Engineer who can bridge classic HVAC design with modern Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. You'll create and coordinate detailed HVAC systems in Autodesk Revit, run load calculations, size and select equipment, and support field teams through installation and commissioning.

  • Key Responsibilities

Area and Typical Tasks

BIM / Revit Modeling

  • Develop and maintain 3-D HVAC models, families, and clash-free coordination sets in Revit
  • Produce construction drawings, schedules, and section details in line with company BIM Execution Plan

Engineering Calculations

  • Perform heating & cooling load calculations (ASHRAE / carrier software, HAP, Trace 700, etc.)
  • Size air ducts, hydronic piping, dampers, diffusers, and insulation based on codes and project specs

Equipment Selection

  • Select AHUs, FCUs, chillers, pumps, fans, VAV boxes, filters, and controls hardware
  • Prepare technical submittals and comparison sheets for vendor reviews

Documentation & QA

  • Generate P&IDs, schematics, and bill-of-materials
  • Check model/drawing quality against internal standards and project BIM Level-of-Development (LOD) targets

Field Support (Nice to Have)

  • Support site surveys, installation checks, and TAB / commissioning punch lists
  • Respond to RFIs and coordinate change orders with contractors

Requirements

Education: B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), Diploma Engineers with required skills and experience can also apply.

Software: Hands-on proficiency in Autodesk Revit (HVAC discipline) and at least one load-calc tool (HAP, Trace, IES VE, etc.). Most importantly, calculation methodology should be known.

Core Skills

  • Heating & cooling load analysis, psychometrics
  • Duct work sizing, layout optimization, and pressure drop calculations
  • Basic knowledge of applicable codes (ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NBC, SMACNA)
  • Preparation of HVAC schedules, specifications, and BOQs

Experience

1–3 years in an HVAC consultancy, design-build, or BIM production environment

  • Desired / Advantageous
  • On-site exposure to HVAC erection or commissioning activities
  • Familiarity with Navisworks Manage for clash detection
  • Exposure to energy modeling or CFD analysis
  • Working knowledge of controls schematics and BMS integration

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Detail-orientation: Catches clashes, spec deviations, and dimension errors early
  • Communication: Explains engineering concepts clearly to architects, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders; writes concise emails and technical notes
  • Collaboration: Thrives in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings; open to peer reviews and knowledge sharing
  • Problem-solving mindset: Able to propose alternative routing, value-engineering ideas, and quick field fixes when constraints arise
  • Time management: Plans tasks to meet deliverable milestones under tight deadlines
  • Curiosity & Continuous Learning: Keeps abreast of new HVAC technologies, energy codes, and Revit add-ins

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Mentoring by senior HVAC and BIM specialists
