About the Team and the Role:
The Hardware Packaging team at Ather is responsible for the mechanical design and integration of electrical and electromechanical subsystems. This role is for a Design Engineer - Hardware Packaging who will own mechanical design aspects across the full technological stack, developing enclosures and subsystems for vehicle and charging infrastructure platforms while ensuring adherence to durability, thermal, and cost targets.
Responsibilities:
- Own mechanical design aspects for product engineering within cross-functional project groups covering ME, EE, FW, and SCM
- Design enclosures for electrical subsystems to meet specific durability, thermal, and IP performance requirements
- Develop CAD files, engineering specifications, and documentation for manufacturing, testing, and PLM/PDM integration
- Perform mechanical design calculations for structural, thermal, and sealing performance
- Resolve complex manufacturing and field issues by troubleshooting mechanical problems and collaborating with vendors on quality processes
- Coordinate with ME teams for DFM/DFA and participate in PPAP, DFMEA, and comprehensive design reviews
- Contribute to the Hardware Architecture master document and the Vehicle and Charging Infra platform roadmap
- Support team growth through talent nurturing, competency analysis, and quick resolution of subsystem-level bugs
Experience and Qualifications:
- B.tech/ M.Tech - mechanical engineering
- 3-6 years of relevant experience
Must Have Competencies:
- Apply expert-level engineering mechanics of solids and structural design principles to product development Execute advanced mechanical design using NX and maintain data integrity within Teamcenter
- Utilize metrology tools at an expert level to ensure precision in hardware packaging and manufacturing
- Perform advanced tolerance stack-up analysis and apply in-depth knowledge of machining, casting, and sheet metal processes
Good to Have Competencies:
- Utilize abstract thinking and APDS (Ather Product Development System) methodologies for design execution
- Apply foundational knowledge of DFMEA and AFMEA to identify and mitigate subsystem failure modes
- Execute structural and fluid dynamics simulations to validate heat transfer and thermal performance
- Navigate industrial design requirements and apply knowledge of rigid body dynamics and materials surface treatments
