Key Responsibilities
Design of Parts and Aggregates
- Create 3D models of BIW components based on defined design requirements
- Ensure part design feasibility across DFx parameters including manufacturing, assembly, and service
- Prepare detailed drawings for child parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and table drawings
- Apply basic GD&T principles and tolerance stack-up concepts
- Support material selection based on functional and application requirements
Packaging and DMU
- Perform packaging of BIW systems ensuring correct fitment, orientation, and location
- Prepare closure layouts and envelopes for windshield, doors, flaps, tailgate, and related systems
- Ensure clash-free designs with optimized clearances to meet functional requirements
Design Calculations and Modifications
- Perform product design activities including tolerance stack-up analysis, packaging studies, fits, tool clearance, and manufacturability assessments
BOM Management and Data Release (2D & 3D)
- Manage subsystem-level PLM data release
- Coordinate supplier and vendor drawing management
- Ensure correct part structure within DMU and PLM systems
- Maintain version control of CAD data with clear identification of design changes across development stages
