Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Drafting and Design:
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings and schematics for power distribution, lighting, control circuits, and other electrical systems.
- Work with electrical engineers to interpret their designs and translate them into technical drawings and plans.
- Create wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings for electrical systems and equipment.
- Use AutoCAD, Revit, and other drafting tools to develop accurate and scalable electrical design drawings.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements and ensure the electrical designs meet all specifications.
- Coordinate with other design disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical) to ensure proper integration of electrical systems within the overall project.
- Participate in design review meetings and assist in revising drawings based on feedback from project stakeholders.
Quality Control and Standards Compliance:
- Ensure that all electrical designs and drawings adhere to relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEC standards).
- Perform checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformity to design specifications.
- Revise and update drawings as needed to incorporate changes or improvements during the project lifecycle.
Document Management and Organization:
- Maintain organized records of all electrical design drawings, including revisions, updates, and archived designs.
- Ensure proper documentation of all project-related materials, including design calculations, material specifications, and project timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of bill of materials (BOM), equipment specifications, and other documentation as required.
Project Support:
- Support the electrical engineering team by providing technical input and assistance during the design, construction, and installation phases of the project.
- Assist with site visits to gather information or clarify issues related to electrical systems during project implementation.
- Provide input on material selection and layout to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety of electrical designs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and drafting software to continuously improve design processes and increase productivity.
- Recommend and implement improvements to drafting techniques, tools, or standards to enhance design efficiency and accuracy.
Training and Mentoring:
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior drafting team members to help them develop their skills and knowledge of electrical drafting.
- Assist in training new employees on drafting standards, software tools, and company procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in electrical drafting or design, ideally in an engineering or construction environment.
Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software used for electrical designs.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, control circuits, and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC, or other relevant standards.
- Experience creating electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
- Knowledge of electrical symbols, terminology, and drafting conventions.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and project managers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work.
