Job Summary:

The Deputy Nursing Superintendent (DNS) assists the Nursing Superintendent in planning, organizing, and supervising nursing services across the hospital. The role ensures quality patient care, adherence to clinical protocols, optimal staffing, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing day-to-day nursing operations across all units
  • Supervise Ward In-charges and Nursing Supervisors
  • Ensure implementation of hospital policies, NABH/NABL standards (if applicable)
  • Monitor patient care quality and nursing practices
  • Coordinate staff duty rosters and manpower planning
  • Handle patient grievances related to nursing services
  • Conduct nursing audits and quality checks
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff
  • Ensure proper documentation and medical record maintenance
  • Maintain discipline and professional standards among nursing staff
  • Assist in infection control practices and patient safety initiatives
  • Prepare reports and submit updates to management

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory)
  • M.Sc. Nursing (Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse & Midwife (RN & RM)
  • Valid State Nursing Council Registration

Experience:

  • Minimum 812 years of clinical experience
  • At least 35 years in supervisory/administrative role
  • Experience in multi-speciality hospital preferred

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of NABH standards and hospital quality systems
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Proficiency in hospital information systems (HIS)
  • Ability to handle emergency situations

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position
  • May require rotational duties / on-call support
  • Administrative and clinical coordination role
