Job Overview
The
Statutory Manager for renewable energy projects is responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements for the successful execution of renewable energy projects. This role involves coordinating with government authorities, obtaining necessary approvals and permits, managing compliance documentation, and ensuring adherence to environmental, land acquisition, and power generation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Approvals:
- Identify and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hybrid, etc.).
- Obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals from state and central authorities such as MoEF, MNRE, SECI, DISCOMs, and local regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with land acquisition laws, environmental clearances, and power evacuation guidelines.
Liaison & Coordination
- Engage with government departments, regulatory authorities, and local administration for statutory approvals.
- Collaborate with internal teams (project management, legal, finance, and operations) to ensure smooth execution of compliance activities.
- Work closely with consultants and legal advisors to ensure timely regulatory submissions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain all regulatory filings, compliance reports, and statutory records.
- Keep track of regulatory deadlines and ensure timely submission of required documents.
- Maintain records of all contracts, agreements, and legal correspondences related to statutory approvals.
Risk Assessment & Compliance Audits
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential statutory and regulatory issues.
- Ensure periodic internal audits of compliance processes and suggest corrective actions.
- Stay updated on changes in renewable energy policies, legal frameworks, and regulatory guidelines.
Land & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure adherence to land acquisition norms and compliance with local land laws.
- Manage environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) and obtain necessary environmental clearances.
- Coordinate with pollution control boards, forest departments, and other environmental authorities.
Power Purchase & Grid Connectivity Approvals
- Ensure compliance with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Open Access regulations, and Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) requirements.
- Work with state transmission and distribution companies to secure grid connectivity approvals.
- Manage regulatory filings for tariff approvals and power evacuation processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7-12 years of experience in regulatory compliance, statutory approvals, and liaison for renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy policies, environmental laws, land acquisition regulations, and power sector regulations.
- Experience in dealing with government bodies such as MNRE, SECI, GERC, and CERC.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
